APPENDIX E: REGIONAL STATISTICS


This appendix presents the attributes of the individual regions that go to
make up the total sample.   In accordance with the requirements of the
stratified sample the number of groups sampled in each region was intended
to be in proportion to the total number of groups in the region.
Consequently, the number of returns from the different regions is quite
variable.

The percentages are those of the raw data except in the case of frequency
of attendance, where the correction for frequency is applied as described
in Appendix D.  Ad nuted in Appendix E, sample averages in that case alone
can be widely different than population averages.

An analysis of variance has not been done for these regions; conse-
quently, confidence limits for the attributes are not available.   The
attributes for the Northeast, Pacific, and East Central regions have much
narrower confidence limits than the others and can be thought of as
significant.  At the other extreme the attributes for Western Canada have
to be regarded as possessing wide uncertainty.
